Kanye West Announces His Own Private School Known As ‘Donda Academy’

Never one to sit still, the ever-enigmatic Kanye West has announced the opening of his own private school, known as the ‘Donda Academy’, named after his recently deceased mother, Dr. Donda West (and obviously his latest album of the same name).

As reported by Billboardthe school will be a private facility and will take enrollments from K-12, and is dedicated to the “next generation of leaders, thinkers, and innovators by providing them with a world-class education that includes a rigorous core curriculum, and an emphasis on sustainability, creativity, critical thinking and problem-solving” (quote from the Donda Academy official website).

Recently the Simi Valley Acorn reported that West was “eyeing” a plot of land located between Moorpark and Simi Valley in Los Angeles – room for a school that will reportedly feature “classrooms, labs, offices, a kitchen, restrooms, storage, a basketball court, and an open field” for its students to use.”

It’s unclear whether Kanye himself will take the principal’s chair – but given the star has albums The College Dropout and Graduation to his name, it could go either way.

It does appear however that the school will have a strong emphasis on basketball, with four elite basketball prospects – Zion CruzJahki HowardRobert Dillingham, and Jalen Hooks – reportedly committed to attending the academy.

“It’s just one of those things you can’t pass up,” Hooks said in an interview with Indianapolis Star. “It was more of a family decision, too. All of us just felt like it was a chance to reach my full potential and grow and get ready for the college level.”

If you fancy moving to the States and having your child educated by Yeezy himself, admission forms are live now.
