In a few moments time, the 85th Annual Academy Awards will be underway and for the next several days it’s all we are going to be hearing about and, lets face it, talking about – all these beautiful people doin’ stuff. Amongst the fashion, celebrity drama and Adele’s comeback performance, a handful of awards are given out to those who have excelled in their chosen cinematic field, and today we’ll be closely following that facet of the celebration, live updating this list throughout the day.
It’s a special year for the franchise who have now given into pop culture pressure and officially changed the name from The Academy Awards to, plain and simply, The Oscars.
There are dozens of brilliant films nominated for an array of categories. Some winners are more obvious than others, and unfortunately some of our favourites will get totally robbed. Best Picture will probably go to Argo, which was pretty good, but not as good as Zero Dark Thirty.Daniel Day-Lewis, on the other hand, will probably win Best Actor for Lincoln, and so he damn well should.
We gotta remember not to feel too bad for those who don’t make the cut. As reported by Contact Music, the privilege of being nominated comes with a gift bag filled with goodies worth up to $45,000 including a $12,000 trip to Australia, a $4,000 weight loss retreat and an $8,000 stay in Mexico.
