Hey! Don’t knock performance art: Performance Month at Peloton

Go get your diary (for those who still own the archaic things). Now tear out every single month except September. That’s Performance Month at Peloton in Chippo, otherwise known as the real gallery precinct in Sydney.

The gallery has just announced a schedule of art performances on Thursdays, Friday and Saturday arvos throughout September by a bevy of emerging and established artists.

Music Feeds’ picks of the bunch are “The Great Winter” by Alex Clapham and Penelope Benton on Thursday the 22nd, “Untitled Performance” by Alex Pye (early morning extraordinaire on FBi Radio) on Friday the 2nd. “Alex will embark on a gallery ‘challenge’ that has been inspired by an addiction to reality TV. Alex will transpire methods learnt from both Renovators and Masterchef to transform the interior of the space”.

And to those who think performance art is for obtuse, esoteric, cheap drunks dressed in black, go in with an open mind and see what you see. We dare you.
