Watch The Intense, Nirvana-Soundtracked First Trailer For ‘The Batman’

Over the weekend, the first trailer for the forthcoming Matt Reeves-directed, Robert Pattinson-starring The Batman was unveiled, and it’s about as gritty as you might expect.

Soundtracked by Nirvana‘s Nevermind classic ‘Something in the Way’, the first trailer for the film sees R Patz portraying both Bruce Wayne and his caped alter-ego. Rather than the cool, confident playboy Wayne we’ve seen in earlier films from Christian Bale and Ben Affleck, Pattinson’s version is a fair deal edgier and dare-we-say gother.

There’s a level of intensity to Wayne’s character here that Pattinson manages to pull off pretty well – rather than the celebrated superhero we’re used to, The Batman captures the Dark Knight in his early, masked vigilante days. At one point towards the end of the trailer, a squad of clown-faced goons asks “What the hell are you supposed to be?”, right before one cops a pretty bloody brutal beating from The Bat. “I’m vengeance,” he replies.

The trailer also gives us a glimpse of the film’s star-studded supporting cast, including Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as The Riddler and Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon.
