Indie-pop act E For Echo have released their new cut ‘Oh Boy’, and it’s a fascinating listen – one you won’t soon forget.
The track starts in a sun-drenched, whimsical haze before it takes a haunting and dark turn, but one that will keep you hooked until the closing moments of the song.
‘Oh Boy’ was born as a response to the frustration band members Jenna and Zana felt towards a fellow musician’s thoughts to Hannah Gadbsy’s powerful and universally acclaimed Netflix special, Nanette. They married those frustrations with their own experiences working in the music industry to create the important track.
“There are so many stories that go untold in creative industries and it seems that only now there is a real platform for them starting to emerge in the music biz,” the band said in a statement.
“‘Oh Boy’ is about one person’s story being invalidated by someone else’s opinion. Sure, freedom of speech is the best! But jumping up to speak is pretty useless without a willingness to truly listen first.”
E For Echo will launch ‘Oh Boy’ at their show supporting The Jezabels on their national tour. Later this month, they will be supporting the legendary Van Duren on his debut Australian tour on the main stage at Oxford Art Factory.
