Music Feeds Podcast Episode #48 – Insane Clown Posse

Insane Clown Posse are now on our shores, bringing their raucous live show to Australia for the first time in over a decade. The Juggalos are amassing and have already whooped their way through sets in Adelaide and Brisbane, and the fabulous Mike Hohnen caught up with one half of the devilsome duo Shaggy 2 Dope just before ICP hit our shores.

Phoning in from his pad just outside Detroit, the always busy Shaggy told us he’s “super geeked” to be heading to Australia again. “I’ve got not one bad memory or thing to say about Australia. I’ve had nothing but fun any time I’ve ever been there,” he enthused, going on to explain the difficulty of touring here without a record label, not to mention the challenge of getting work visas in a post-9/11 world, prevented them from returning sooner.

It seems getting themselves here wasn’t the only problem the band faced when organising an Australian tour either. Shaggy filled us in on the situation he encountered with Australian Customs when they endeavoured to bring supplies of their much-loved soft drink Faygo into the country. Unfortunately there will be no Faygo showers for Australian Juggalos this visit.

Shaggy was also good enough to talk about the less than favourable public image that ICP and the Juggalo Movement have accumulated over the years. “People think that the gatherings are super dangerous and crazy shit happens there and it’s out of control,” he says. “Nowadays people from the media are coming in a reporting on it and seeing that…it’s just everybody having a good time. Sure, drugs taken, yeah. People getting drunk, yeah. People falling and getting hurt and stuff, yeah. But what festival does that not happen at?”
