Sydney-based alt-R&B artist Anieszka will release the eight-song collection, Human, on Thursday, 7th July. Music Feeds is premiering the EP. Human is awash with luxuriant textures and supple melodies that recall the work of SZA and Summer Walker, as demonstrated on the preview singles, ‘Presence’, ‘True’, ‘Choices’, and ‘Human’.
Anieszka’s official EP launch, dubbed ‘The Human Experience’, is taking place at Mary’s Underground on Wednesday, 13th July. Mary’s Underground occupies the former home of The Basement in Sydney’s Circular Quay Precinct. Tickets are on sale now.
Anieszka – ‘Human’ EP
Anieszka has been working towards Human for the last two years. After releasing the Elixir EP in 2018, Anieszka sought to expand her songcraft. Human showcases the artist’s knack for creating hypnotic, soulful music, which is often stripped back to the point of intimacy.
Human includes electronic production and live instrumentation. Throughout, Anieszka’s voice is the kernel of appeal, generating a feeling at once vulnerable and empowered. The record was created amid COVID-19 uncertainty, and this experience filtered into Anieszka’s songwriting.
“This EP amalgamates all the different parts of who I am and what has become transparent to me over the past couple of years,” Anieszka says. “I feel like what we’ve gone through as a collective over the past couple of years has had a unique effect on all of us.”
For Anieszka, the period of rife instability encouraged her to channel a more confident and authentic songwriting voice. The record encompasses a wide range of emotional states and behavioural quandaries: “Each song on this body of work speaks to our many human facets,” Anieszka says.
She adds, “Whilst we all have varying experiences of being alive, I feel this body of work is a moment of interconnectedness, where listeners know they are not alone on their journey.”
