Adelaide trio Donnarumma have returned with one of their most raw and rumbling tracks to date, ‘Alien’.
The song harnesses some incredibly vulnerable emotions, which results in a powerful, soaring chorus full of howling vocals and dry guitars.
It’s been seven months since Donnarumma’s last release, and you can tell they’ve grown in that time. Their sound has matured and is now more full-bodied than ever before.
“I’m never a person to write the same kind of music every time,” frontman Louis Donnarumma says about the switch-up in sound.
“I get bored too easily. I’m very passionate about exploring new sounds and developing as an artist as well as a songwriter.”
‘Alien’ in particular came from “sitting at the bar feeling external to the conversations around me”, he says.
It celebrates letting go of the “angst” that Louis has about “holding conversations”, and you can feel that liberation in the sweeping instrumentation.
The song is the sort where you can feel it would make an impact on you live, which is why it’s lucky they’re taking it on tour.
Donnarumma will play five shows in support of the single, and you can check out all the details below. The band released their debut single ‘Love Your Man’ last year.
