PREMIERE: Magnus Unveil Dark Video Clip For ‘Humbugger’

Sydney’s Magnus released their melodic masterpiece of a single ‘Humbugger’ early last month. Today, they’re premiering the ‘Humbugger’ film clip via Music Feeds.

‘Humbugger’ is the second single off their forthcoming, second album Detachment which is set for release this year.

The four-piece shot the film clip in an old house up in the Blue Mountains. It sees a bunch of different characters with different personalities and attitudes show themselves to a camera on a tripod.

Frontman Arne Heeres said he wanted the video to express what the song is all about, so he teamed up with filmmaker Joel Burrows to help bring it to life. They conceptualised this video, which is set entirely within that Blue Mountains house. They kept it inside the house because they didn’t want to reference the outside world.

“There are different characters, played deadpan and almost emotionless, that each represent one of the voices in your head that struggle to get some attention and be heard. The question is which one do you listen to, which one are you afraid to become, which one do you want to be and why are your parents still in there somehow?” says Heeres.

“It ended up really feeling like spending a little bit too much time examining yourself inside your head where it’s easy to start losing the plot a little… Until it’s time to wake up lost and slightly “evolved” to start the daily grind again.”
