Sydney garage rock outfit Spruced Moose have unleashed a rollicking video for their crunchy sophomore single ‘Ones Who Fly’, brimming with nostalgic 90’s rock vibes.
The song itself is a universal coming of age story, a song about growing up, learning who you are and moving forward in the face of fear of the unknown. It’s a sentiment that can bring you back to those pivotal growth moments in life and the band decided to inject those nostalgic feels into the track’s visual accompaniment as well.
“We initially had this idea to make a stop-motion-rock-n-roll video but there was something about the locations we had picked that spurred up this nostalgic super 8 film idea,” explains clip director (and self-proclaimed “Soup Brewer”) Harry Scott. “Over a 2 day shoot in Sydney’s inner west we took over 23,000 photos and spent way too long in attics. The technical process of the video was more thrilling than the creative part which made it unique.
“I feel bad for Spruced Moose because we got these extremely strong flashing studio lights to make it look pretty but I’m fairly certain a few of the band members may have contracted some retina problems.”
