PREMIERE: The Butterfly Effect’s ‘Nil By Mouth’ Is Clever, Passionate Rock Music

The Butterfly Effect’s new single ‘Nil By Mouth’ is premiering on Music Feeds ahead of its official release on Wednesday, 16th February.

The Butterfly Effect returned with the single ‘So Tired’ in 2021. ‘Nil By Mouth’ arrives ahead of a bunch of Queensland headline shows this month.

“‘Nil By Mouth’ represents the world’s obsession with fame at any cost. It’s also about the absolute craziness we see on TV all the time – humans behaving badly, the drama, murder, death, rape, torture – and that’s just on the 5 o’clock news,” said lead vocalist, Clint Boge.

“And that’s before we even get to social media – bullying, pornography, invasions of privacy, people at each others’ throats all the time – it’s just the tip of the iceberg. We are being constantly bombarded with the worst that human kind has to offer.”

It’s been an up and down ten years for The Butterfly Effect. The Brisbane band took an extended hiatus a few years after their third album, 2008’s Final Conversation of Kings. They released a collection of B-sides and rarities in 2016 – the helpfully titled B-Sides, Live and Rarities – and shared the new single ‘Unbroken’ in 2019.

However, aside from making a few festival appearances, the band’s return stalled. That’s all set to change this year. A new album is set for release later in 2022 and an extensive run of touring is on the cards.

“It’s going to be great to get out there and play after so long…it’ll be like we never left,” said Boge. Listen to ‘Nil By Mouth’ below.
