The lineup for Newcastle’s This That festival has just expanded that little bit more with the addition of a triple j Unearthed act.
Raucous rock trio RAAVE TAPES have won a competition to open the festival, and you never know — they may just turn out to be your new favourite band.
The Newcastle locals have one EP to their name, and they’re already selling some dope merch that’s sure to resonate with plenty of Aussies.
You might not guess it from their scuzzy, lo-fi single Corridor (below), but frontman Joab Eastley is a preschool teacher by day, as triple j points out. Recently, he raised a whopping $6,000 for a kid in his class with a fundraiser band night.
RAAVE TAPES join a mammoth This That lineup which also includes Ball Park Music, Schoolboy Q, Drapht, Peking Duk and more.
It’s all set to go down in Newcastle on Saturday, 5th November and you can check out the full lineup below.
