Actress To Release Fourth Album ‘Ghettoville’ In February

Electronic pioneer Actress, the project of beatmaker Darren Cunningham, is back in 2014, with the minimal techno master today announcing the upcoming release of his fourth studio effort, Ghettoville – but could it be his last?

The British artist revealed an Australian release date of Friday, 7th February, but also gave this cryptic message via a press statement, alluding that the record may be the final instalment for Actress:

“The machines have turned to stone, data reads like an obituary to its user. A fix is no longer a release, it’s a brittle curse. Zero satisfaction, no teeth, pseudo artists running rampant, but the path continues. R.I.P Music 2014. Actress”

Ghettoville is being billed as a sequel to his 2008 debut, Hazyville, even though he’s released two other albums since, most recently 2012’s R.I.P. Actress is no stranger to hype, having been featured on Pitchfork’s Best New Music and delivering remixes for the likes of Panda Bear, Radiohead, Laurel Halo and Kasabian.
