Adelaide’s take on Splendour In The Grass, Spin Off festival, is confirmed to be coming back to the City of Churches in 2013 on Friday, 2nd August, albeit in more intimate venue than last year.
Spin Off festival, which debuted as a mini-Splendour in the Jubilee Pavilion at Wayville Showground last year, will be taking place in Thebarton Theatre this time around, but promoters have promised that the smaller venue doesn’t mean a diminished line-up. The festival promises to bring “the best and brightest international acts” from Splendour, plus some local favourites.
Last year’s lineup featured Lana del Rey, Kimbra, Band Of Skulls, Friends, DZ Deathrays, Bleeding Knees Club, Last Dinosaurs and Yacht Club DJs, all of whom featured on the Spendour 2012 roster.
There’s no definite word on when the lineup will be released, just that it will follow the Splendour announcement, which, in case you’re living under a rock or something, was made this morning.
Perth’s attempt at a mini-Splendour, On The Brightside, was cancelled in 2012 due to conflicting artist schedules. At the time, organisers released a statement on Facebook at the time saying they hoped to be back “with another cracker in 2013” but we’re yet to hear even a whisper of the west coast version going ahead – sorry, sandgropers.
