Adele Is Releasing A New Single Next Week, Teaser Out Now

Adele has announced a new single will be coming next Friday, 15th October. The song is called ‘Easy On Me’ and you can check out a 20 second teaser clip now. The teaser film gives little away, though as one might expect from Adele, it creates an impression of sophistication and drama.

Adele turned 30 three years ago. So her next album, which will be titled 30, has been the source of rife anticipation ever since. In recent weeks, billboards and light projections featuring the number “30” have been spotted in various locations around the world, including the Palace of Westminster, the Empire State Building, the Colosseum, and the Louvre.

It’s been nearly six years since Adele’s most recent album, 25. Featuring the singles ‘Hello’, ‘When We Were Young’ and ‘Send My Love (To Your New Lover)’, 25 quickly became one of the best-selling albums of all time. It’s listed as the fourth best-selling of the 21st century. Adele’s 21 is at the top of this list with Eminem’s The Eminem Show (2002) at number two and Norah Jones’ Come Away With Me (2002) at three.

Context is important in understanding the immensity of Adele’s popularity. It’s no coincidence that albums two and three on this list were released in the same year (2002). The list is dominated by records from the earliest years of the new millennium, a time of gargantuan CD sales. In fact, of the top 20 best selling albums of the 21st century, Adele’s 21 and 25 are the only albums from the 2010s.
