AJ Maddah Hints At Soundwave 2016 Lineup

UPDATE 17/12/15 5.50pm: Soundwave 2016 has been officially cancelled.

Recent comments by AJ Maddah indicate that the promoter may already have bookings set for Soundwave 2016. Maddah has told Twitter followers that he has “plans” to bring Social Distortion out for the festival’s 2016 run, the same year fans can expect a return from UK outfit Bring Me The Horizon.

In January, the outspoken promoter said he would attempt to bring California punk rockers Social Distortion out for Soundwave 2015 or what was then the expected 2014 return of Vans Warped Tour Australia. However, earlier this month the promoter claimed the band would not return “till 2016”.

Maddah ruled out Bring Me The Horizon for next year’s festival back in August. The band previously appeared on a Soundwave bill in 2011 with Iron Maiden and again in 2013 with Metallica. Their last headlining appearances were in October 2013, with SW15 alumni Of Mice & Men and Crossfaith.

Other acts that Maddah appears to have his eye on for 2016 include A Pale Horse Named Death, who he originally intended to book for 2015, Adelitas Way, with whom he had a promising discussion over Twitter, and Swedish metallers HammerFall. Maddah also said that Rage Against the Machine are a “maybe”.

The lineup for next year’s Soundwave was announced last month, topped by the likes of Slipknot, Faith No More, and Soundgarden, who’ll be ushering in the festival’s new two-day format. A second lineup announcement is expected to drop in the coming months, with Maddah claiming it is almost complete.
