Soundwave promoter AJ Maddah has taken to Twitter to clear up the situation surrounding Swedish glam metal band Crashdiet‘s absence from the lineup for Soundwave 2014. Maddah had disclosed, once again via Twitter, that the band were on his lineup shortlist.
A curious fan tweeted the outspoken promoter, asking “Are there any issues with Crashdiet, noticed they weren’t on the first lineup announcement after confirmation.” Maddah responded two hours later explaining the issue: “Their manager died quite suddenly and we didn’t get confirmation in time for 1st announcement.” Up till now the band’s omission from the lineup had been a mystery to many fans as their status was considered, for all intents and purposes, confirmed.
The band have released a statement via their official Facebook page, in which they confirmed the passing of manager Michael Sundén and explained his impact on the band, saying “Michael took this band to new heights that wouldn’t be possible without him. He will be missed! Our hearts go out to his wife and kids.”
There is no word yet on whether the band will be on the second lineup announcement for Soundwave 2014, but the band have confirmed that they are “currently out on the road” despite cancelling dates in Japan.
