Sad news for Listen Out punters in Sydney, as US production wizard Whethan has announce he is pulling out of the remaining legs of the festival to look after his health.
“I’ve never had to do this before and it is beyond saddening,” Whethan wrote on social media. “If you’re expecting to see me play in Perth and Sydney I’m sorry to inform you that I have to cancel.”
“Mentally I am in a place right now that is very worrisome to myself and my team. I’ve been advised by everyone to cancel these shows and try to get some rest back home. Right now I need to take time to focus on my mental and physical health again. I promise next time I’m back I will make it up to you.”
While the Perth leg of Listen Out took place on Sunday, Perth-based producer TWERL stepped up to the plate at the last minute. The Sydney replacement for Whethan remains yet to be announced.
This isn’t the only cancellation the festival has had this year, as Denzel Curry had to cancel his performance at the Melbourne leg due to falling ill. However, he has seemed to recover after performing at both the Brisbane and Perth legs of the festival.
