André Rieu, the 74-year-old renowned violinist and conductor, has expressed a desire to perform in front of the Pyramids in Egypt. Known for his captivating performances worldwide, Rieu has several places on his bucket list where he hopes to play, including one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World in Giza.
In an interview with BANG Showbiz, Rieu shared his excitement about exploring new venues. He said, “We are always exploring new countries. This year we came for the first time to Abu Dhabi and Greece, and last year to Bahrain and Malta. The venues are indeed the main challenge; I need a hall that can have around 10,000 people. I would love to perform in Egypt, maybe in front of the Pyramids, or maybe in India! Who knows! There are a lot of surprises ahead!”
André Rieu Also Opens To Collaborate With Pop Stars: “It Always Depends On A Good Idea Or Song. It is difficult to plan these kinds of things”
André Rieu is also open to collaborating with pop stars, similar to how Andrea Bocelli teamed up with Ed Sheeran on “Perfect.” He explained, “It always depends on a good idea or song. It is difficult to plan these kinds of things – often they need time to develop or even better – they happen by chance!”
In addition to performing, Rieu embraces social media to connect with younger audiences. He stated, “I think it’s vital to be in touch with the fans through socials – I am on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok and have a great team that supports me in sharing beautiful musical clips, memories from travels, backstage impressions, photos of me baking, doing sports and cooking – the things I love to do most in my free time.”
Rieu also shared a touching story about 15-year-old Emma Kok, who performed with him and went viral for her rendition of “Voilà.” Despite her health challenges, Emma’s performance resonated with millions and brought younger audiences to Rieu’s music.
André Rieu’s 2024 Maastricht Concert, “Power Of Love,” will be in cinemas from August 31st.
