It’s a good time to be Ariana Grande right now, as the release of her new album Thank U, Next has allowed her to absolutely dominate charts across the globe.
With particular attention the US Billboard charts, Ariana Grande is the first solo artist ever to simultaneously hold the top three spots on the Billboard Hot 100. The number 1 spot goes to ‘7 rings’, the number 2 spot goes to her new single ‘break up with your girlfriend, i’m bored’ and album title track ‘thank u, next’ has rebounded back to #3 after holding the #1 spot for seven collective weeks across 2018 and 2019.
She also now holds the record for the female artist with the most songs in the Billboard top 40 simultaneously. 11 out of the 12 tracks on Thank U, Next sit inside the top 40, with the other one trailing behind at #48.
While Grande is the first solo artist to monopolise the top 3 of Billboard, The Beatles did the same thing all the way back in 1964.
As for other national charts, Grande continues to dominate. She currently holds the #1 and #2 spot on the ARIA charts – with four more in the top 20. She also holds the #1 and #2 spot on the UK charts.
Given her wild success here, we can no doubt expect an Aussie tour from Grande soon. The last time she was in Australia was back in 2017, off the back of her 2016 album Dangerous Woman.
