Congrats Australia! You’ve just been gifted with yet another brand spanking new music festival this year, and this one’s especially for fans of dancehall and Afrobeats!
Dubbed 1Dance Africa, the concert series will take place across two dates in Sydney and Melbourne this October and feature an impressive bill of international and local heavyweights.
So far, Drake collaborator and Superstar in his own right Wizkid has been named to headline proceedings, bolstered by Afrobeats leading lady Yemi Alade (who has a song on the Beyonce-produced Lion King soundtrack just FYI) and Tanzanian songwriter/dancer Harmonize.
There’s still a swag of local acts TBA, while British-based, African-born comedian Eddie Kadi will also MC both events.
