Avril Lavigne Finally Breaks Silence Over ‘Melissa’ Clone Conspiracy Theory

Avril Lavigne has finally addressed the internet’s widely agreed-upon theory that she died in 2003 and was replaced by a clone named Melissa.

ICYMI the long-held conspiracy theory, which experienced a seismic resurgence on Twitter in 2017, cites numerous pieces of evidence to support its central thesis that the so-called “Avril” currently walking the earth is nothing but a big fat phoney, including sudden changes in her look & style, cryptic lyrics in her songs, and the fact that an actress named Melissa Vandella is a dead-ringer for the Canadian pop-punk princess.

But after years of silence, Avril has finally tackled the tinfoil hat-wearers head-on.

During a chat with Australia’s own KIIS 106.5 radio, the ‘Complicated’ singer confessed that she’d heard the theories: “Yeah some people think that I’m not the real me which is so weird!” she said. “Like why would they even think that?”

However, as soon as hosts Kyle & Jackie O asked the question…. strange things began happening.

“…What was incredibly strange and creepy was that as soon as Jackie asked this question, the phone line turned really weird!” the station reported.

“Avril went a bit robotic, cut out and times, and even accidentally started pressing random buttons making a beep sound! Is it just a coincidence that things started going haywire with the line as soon as we asked about the Melissa theories? Or was someone doing it…”

Nice try MELISSA.
