Billie Joe Armstrong’s Mysterious New Band’s First Single Has Arrived, Under Some Bizarre Circumstances

Your m8 Billie Joe Armstrong from Green Day has lifted the lid on his new punk sideproject The Longshot by unveiling the band’s moody debut single, ‘Love Is For Losers’, under some distinctly odd circumstances.

The enigmatic new act’s angsty, up-tempo, 12-bar-bluesy singalong jam premiered on US Bay Area radio station ALT 105.3 overnight after it was apparently surprise-delivered to one of the station’s DJ’s in a mysterious box.

Anyway, after the jock figured out that it was in fact a legit tune and not a severed head or anything, he gave it a spin on air, and it’s since (naturally) leaked onto the internet for all of our listening pleasure.

Meanwhile, the official Longshot Instagram account remains set to private, but its bio confirms that the tune will form the title track of the band’s forthcoming debut album.

“New album ‘Love is for Losers’ coming eventually sooner or later. Probably sooner,” it reads.

FYI we still don’t know who is actually in this band with BJ, although fans are speculating it could include one or both of his sons, Jeff Matika, and Green Day’s Mike Dirnt and Tre Cool.

Do any of these dudes look familiar to you?

While we wait to find out more, you can feel free to give ‘Love Is For Losers’ a spin below.

And ICYMI: Green Day’s much-frothed American Idiot musical is still doing the rounds down under, returning to Brisbane this April before ending its season up in Darwin in May.
