Birdz Shares Video For Ngaiire Collab ‘Fly’, Announces Headline Tour

Back in March, rapper Birdz shared latest single ‘Fly’, a powerful ode to resilience and strength anchored by a soulful refrain delivered by Ngaiire.

“As Indigenous people, we carry with us the oldest living cultures in the world,” Birdz said of the song, which is produced by trials, and marks the first track to be released from a forthcoming project.

“That’s something sacred that no one can ever take from us – it’s that energy that holds our heads up high no matter what the world throws at us.”

Now, the Melbourne MC has released the track’s official music video, which stars both artists performing the song – Birdz in a warm, golden-lit room and Ngaiire by the ocean.

The Josh Lee-directed clip was built around the song’s themes, with Lee explaining, “We went with strong performance shots revolving around golden light, showcasing the beauty and strength that these individuals (specifically focusing on Indigenous Australians) have within themselves.”

In addition, Birdz has announced a handful of headline tour dates kicking off in July, with stops in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide on the cards – check dates out below.

Last month, the rapper teamed up with Missy Higgins on the first episode of ABC live music program The Set‘s current season. The duo performed their spin on Destiny’s Child classic ‘Survivor’, with Birdz seamlessly delivering freestyle bars over the cover.
