Budjerah, Kobie Dee To Play Burramatta NAIDOC Week Event

A special NAIDOC event is bringing some of Australia’s brightest talent to the City of Parramatta. The Burramatta NAIDOC event is happening this Sunday, 10th July, with performances from Budjerah, Kobie Dee, The Merindas and more. Burramatta NAIDOC is part of the City of Parramatta’s annual First Nations festival, Warami.

The Warami festival runs over six weeks, celebrating First Nations culture, art, food, dance, music, song and crafts. The music program for Burramatta NAIDOC is particularly special, with each artist on the lineup having produced some incredible music over the past year.

Headliner Budjerah won the 2021 ARIA Award for Breakthrough Artist. The public has seen his star rise even further recently with the release of the Budjerah remix of Ed Sheeran‘s ‘2step’. Kobie Dee reminded audiences of his powerful onstage presence during his ‘Gomeroi Nation Tour’ earlier this year. The Merindas have made a mark of their own off the back of their 2020 debut album, We Sing Until The Sunrise, which saw the duo tour prior to the COVID-19 outbreak.

The Burramatta NAIDOC lineup also includes breakout South Australian folktronica songwriter Tilly Tjala Thomas, whose latest single, ‘Mansion, was one of our favourite releases of May, as well as four-piece Gomeroi family band Castlereagh Connection, who recently appeared on The Voice: Generations. The group auditioned for The Voice with a rendition of Ben E. King’s classic, ‘Stand By Me’.
