Casey Donovan & Vanessa Amorosi Announced As First Potential Aussie Eurovision Contestants

Eurovision – Australia Decides is kicking off in February next year on the Gold Coast. The show will see 10 Aussie artists compete for the chance to represent Australia at Eurovision in 2020.

Today, we’ve received the first two of the 10 contestants. Australian Idol alumni Casey Donovan will be competing. She won the second season of Idol in 2004 when she was 16 years-old.

“I’m so excited to be a part of Eurovision – Australia Decides after opening the show this year and seeing the amazing talent,” said Casey Donovan.

“When I was asked I thought, what an amazing thing to be a part of. It doesn’t matter what happens for me, ‘Proud’ is such an incredible song written by the talented Justine Eltakchi and I’m proud to sing it.”

The other contestant? Vanessa Amorosi, the queen who brought us ‘Absolutely Everybody’ — the anthem to every early 2000s school disco.

“I am so incredibly excited to be part of Eurovision – Australia Decides 2020,” says Amorosi.

“I am a proud Aussie and to have the opportunity to sing one of my songs on a huge international stage representing Australia would be unforgettable. I look forward to Australia hearing my song and working alongside friends and fellow musicians on this journey.”

Kicking off on SBS next year, Eurovision – Australia Decides will be hosted on the Gold Coast. Seasoned Eurovision veterans, Joel Creasey and Myf Warhurst will be hosting the show. Aussies are encouraged to vote on their fave acts, with the winner being revealed on Saturday, 8th February.
