Childish Gambino was in the country just a week ago for Falls Festival and Field Day but he’s already back in LA winning awards.
The rapper/actor/everything-er who is also known by his real name of Donald Glover, took home two Golden Globe awards for his television show Atlanta – Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy and Best Actor – Television Series Musical or Comedy.
Glover pulled out of the Fremantle leg of Falls Festival to attend the awards ceremony and while it’s a bummer for WA fans, it’s probably not a decision he’s going to regret given that he won big.
While he was up there for acting, he still found a way to bring it back to music thanking hip-hop group Migos during his speech for Best Television Series.
“I wanna thank Migos. Not for being in the show, but for making Bad And Boujee,” he said.
“That’s the best song ever.”
It’s been a massive 12 months for Glover. As well as starring in his own show Atlanta, he released his third album Awaken, My Love and put on a series of incredible secret shows for it at Joshua Tree in California.
Of the other music-related awards at the Golden Globes, La La Land took home Best Original Score and also won the award for Best Original Song for City Of Stars.
