Cigarettes After Sex Announce New Album ‘X’s’

American pop band Cigarettes After Sex has surprised their fans by announcing their new album X’s, which will be released on July 12th.

The album announcement follows their world tour announcement that includes stops in Australia and other countries in March 2025, featuring performances at renowned venues like Madison Square Garden and London’s O2 Arena.

Cigarettes After Sex’s Greg Gonzalez Shared The New Album Details

The band’s lead bandmate Greg Gonzalez states. “The record feels brutal,” admits Greg Gonzalez. “I could sit and talk about this loss to someone, but that wouldn’t scratch the surface. I have to really write about it, sing about it, have the music, and then I can start to analyze and learn from it. Or just relive it—in a good way. I don’t have that Eternal Sunshine-thing of wanting to forget.”

While staying true to their signature slow burn pop style, Cigarettes After Sex explores new sonic territories, drawing influence from the ’70s and ’80s slow dance era. The result is a mesmerizing blend of nostalgia and modernity, evoking disco ball-refracted tears on the dance floor.

The band also released the lead single from the album, “Tejano Blue,” which pays homage to Gonzalez’s Texas roots. He reflects on his upbringing in El Paso, surrounded by the sounds of Tejano music, and shares how the song combines Selena’s iconic style with the ethereal sounds of Cocteau Twins.

“Tejano Blue” is available now, offering a fresh take on the band’s sensual and timeless love songs. Fans can mark their calendars for the release of “X’s” on July 12th, courtesy of Partisan Records / Liberator Music. Stream and watch it here.
