Up-and-coming experimental R&B and hip hop artist Col3trane has announced two intimate sideshows after being added to the Listen Out 2018 lineup earlier this week.
As well as travelling to appear at Listen Out, the 19-year-old London rapper will also be performing his debut Australian headline shows at Melbourne’s The Worker’s Club and Sydney’s The Lansdowne in September.
Col3trane’s new mixtape BOOT dropped today — building on his debut, Tsarina — and it features some big names in production like Rogét Chahayed (Solange, Kendrick Lamar, Travis Scott), DJDS (Kanye, Charlotte Day Lewis) Nicky Davey (The Internet) and Cadenza (Jorja Smith).
He recently dropped a double-video for lead singles ‘Fear and Loathing’ and ‘Britney’, which he told The Fader was inspired by writer Hunter S Thompson.
“Oscar [the director] really brought this idea to life,” he said.
“He’s very talented. His process and attention to detail are crazy. He had the whole idea of making [the video] about two trips that merge into one. The song is really about being stuck in a place or a situation that is tough to get out of. I think the nature of the video makes it feel like a continuous loop.”
