Cold Chisel Expand 2024 Australian Tour

Cold Chisel have added several new shows to their national Australian tour The Big Five-O, which is set to take place across October and November 2024. The new dates have been added in response to the pre-sale for the tour last Friday (May 31st), which saw what press material described as “totally unprecedented” demand for tickets across the board. The updated tour schedule, as well as ticketing information, can be found below.

In the band’s home-away-from-home Sydney, two extra dates have been added. The first is on Saturday October 12th, and will take place in the city’s Entertainment Quarter as part of their homage to the 1982 Circus Animals tour. For these special shows in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, the band will perform in a custom 10,000-capacity tent.

The second Sydney show will take place on Saturday night, November 16th at Qudos Bank Arena, where the band performed in 2011 as part of their Light the Nitro national tour. Melbourne has also followed suit, with a second tent date at Flemington Racecourse added on Saturday October 26th and a new show in the city’s south at Mornington Racecourse on Sunday November 10th.

Away from Sydney and Melbourne, two new dates have been added to the tour on either side of the country. The first is at Sandalford Wines, in the Swan Valley of Western Australia, which will take place on Sunday October 20th. The second is another special tent date in Brisbane’s Victoria Park, which will happen the day after the original date on Sunday November 3rd.

The Big Five-O tour will mark the band’s first major national tour in over four years, following their 2020 tour that wrapped just weeks before the COVID-19 pandemic hit. Since then, three of the band’s five members – lead vocalist Jimmy Barnes, guitarist Ian Moss and pianist Don Walker – have each toured the country and released new music as solo artists.

Barnes returned to the stage back in April at this year’s Bluesfest after an ongoing health scare, which saw him hospitalized and requiring heart surgery. Ahead of the Cold Chisel tour, he will undertake an acoustic solo tour across theatres this August.
