Crowbar – New Live Music Venue Opens In Brissy

Great news for the Brisbane local scene today with reports that although the beloved Basement 243 will cease to exist, it will begin a new life as Crowbar, Brissy’s new rock venue and bar.

It’s rare these days that we hear of new venues opening; the news has been bloated with the exact opposite. Located in Fortitude Valley, Crowbar, if successful, will hopefully be the first of many new live music venues that pop up around the country.

I know what you’re thinking: there’s been a recent trend of brand new events and venues crumbling, but Crowbar will have a serious, experienced team behind it, including ex-The Amity Affliction’s Trad Nathan, with Anthony Aitken and Damien Coward. Nathan commented on the news via the venue’s website: “Basement 243 never really established itself as part of the touring circuit for Brisbane, national and international bands. When I first saw the venue, with its perfect sight lines, underground vibe, ample backstage area, pinball machines, pool tables and couches, I knew this could be Brisbane’s best 200-capacity venue for musicians to shred and people to party. After we installed a new PA, rebuilt the stage, painted the walls, hired bar legends, and changed the hideous Basement sign, the potential was overwhelming.”

So be sure to check it out; sounds like we will be seeing some great things happen at Crowbar!
