Crowded House Perform Surprise Acoustic Gig In Newrybar, NSW

Crowded House will kick off their first Australian tour in more than a decade this week. The band played an unannounced warm-up show on Friday, 1st April in the small town of Newrybar, located between Ballina and Byron Bay in northern New South Wales.

The town’s local general store, The Little General Newrybar, organised a barbeque to show gratitude to local volunteers who’d contributed to the flood clean-up effort. The hundred or so people who showed up to the Newrybar Hall for food and drinks were treated to a surprise performance from Crowded House on the Hall’s front patio.

The band, featuring founding members Neil Finn and Nick Seymour, as well as keyboardist Mitchell Froom, guitarist/backing vocalist Liam Finn and drummer Elroy Finn, played a 50-minute acoustic set, which included many of their biggest hits. You can watch the whole performance – including such favourites as ‘Weather With You’, ‘Something So Strong’, ‘Fall At Your Feet’ and a cover of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s ‘Have You Ever Seen the Rain’ – on the band’s Instagram page.

Crowded House will begin their Dreamers Are Waiting Australian tour in earnest this Tuesday, 5th April at Adelaide Entertainment Centre. They’ll carry on to Melbourne, Sydney, Bowral, Byron Bay, Hobart, Canberra, Waurn Ponds, Hunter Valley and Perth. Find all tour dates here.
