Crystal Castles Announce New Album ‘Amnesty (I)’, Drop New Single ‘Char’

Crystal Castles have officially announced their impending and fourth studio album Amnesty (I). The album has a street date as near as Friday, 19th August but if that’s not enough to get your juices flowing, they’ve gone and shared Char, a new single off it.

Amnesty (I) will be the band’s first album with new vocalist Edith Frances. But judging by previous tracks Femen and Concrete, it’s very obvious that Frances has the chops needed to fill the role. Much like the aforementioned tracks, Char exists well and truly within the universe of Crystal Castes; both gentle and savage, lulling you into a brooding, electronic dystopia.

Earlier this year, details for the album managed to make their way online before schedule, but now we have all the tidbits confirmed. The album will run the gambit of everything Crystal Castles has touched in the past – Synthy raves right up to distorted, hip hop-infused lullabies.

Given that the band haven’t been Down Under since Big Day Out 2013, we’re also hoping that the new album will bring them to our shores once more.
