Crystal Castles Share ‘Deicide’, Another New Song Without Alice Glass

The first song that Crystal Castles released following the departure of frontwoman Alice Glass was embroiled in controversy, so here’s hoping this new one gets a little more attention for the song rather than the circumstances surrounding it.

Deicide is said to be taken from Crystal Castle’s forthcoming album, helmed by remaining producer Ethan Kath. The same vocalist that featured on the last track Frail also makes an appearance on this one, however, she is still known as just ‘Edith’.

It’s a thumping, five minute affair that’s a little more washed-out than its predecessor, but no less potent.

This time Kath hasn’t made the mistake of leaving a personal comment alongside the song as he did upon the release of Frail, wishing Glass the best of luck with her solo project and adding, “it should be rewarding for her considering she didn’t appear on Crystal Castles’ best known songs.”

Glass expectedly shot back and wrote on Twitter, “i was a founding member of crystal castles and shaped the sound and aesthetic from the very beginning.”

Kath deleted his original comments. “When I realized it came off as shade, I pulled it because I have no desire to throw any shade, I really do wish her the best,” he told Pitchfork.

If you think of it in a positive way, we’re now getting two Crystal Castles-related projects instead of one.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
