Brisbane royalty, Cub Sport have today blessed us with a new song, ‘Drive’. ‘Drive’ is an airy, gentle-pop song with shimmery instrumentals that feels very wholesome… Kind of like the auditory equivalent of a hug. Which we could all use right now.
Cub Sport front person, Tim Nelson says, “Recognising the magic of life while it’s happening is something really special and that’s what ‘Drive’ is to me; capturing that feeling.
“It’s a love song saying ‘You’re a dream and I still can’t believe you give a damn about me.’. There’s a purity to ‘Drive’ that gives me the same warm feeling I get from Cocteau Twins ‘Cherry-coloured Funk,’ Cyndi Lauper ‘True Colours,’ and Mazzy Star ‘Fade Into You’.”
“It feels like the type of song that soundtracks a particular moment or time in your life,” they said.
‘Drive’ is the second offering from their upcoming album Like Nirvana. The album was slated for an early May release, however it’s been postponed due to COVID-19. Like Nirvana will now be available Friday, 24th July.
Cub Sport are delivering the goods with this release too. As part of their album bundles, you can snatch up a Meet & Greet with the band via Google Hangouts. You can find out more here.

Earlier this week, Cub Sport enlisted a bunch of pals to help them create a much superior parody of Gal Gadot’s nightmare ‘Imagine’ video. Cubbies, along with the likes of Tkay Maidza, Allday, G Flip, and Kira Puru, put together a rendition of ‘Untouched’ by The Veronicas.
