In celebration for the release of his new album Blackbird, which hits record stores today, bluesy rock ‘n’ roller Dan Sultan has just announced an extensive national tour. Over a mammoth two months, Sultan and his guitar will be the country’s capital cities and regional towns.
Barely off the back of his last Under Your Skin national tour, the past few months have seen the award-winning Melbourne artist deliver smouldering live performances, both at his headlining shows and in support of Bruce Springsteen.
Sultan’s third studio album, Blackbird, signifies a fresh start for the Melbournite and takes its name from the famous Nashville studio where it was recorded. The album combines powerhouse riffs met by crackling gospel interludes, old-school rock and roll jams, pure country tones, harmonies, horns, banjos and even an Arabic scale or two, thrown in for kicks.
In addition to releasing his third LP, Dan is also giving back to the industry by way of his role as
the first Community Radio ambassador for the Australian Music Radio Airplay Project. Melbourne fans can catch Dan at Readings in St Kilda on Record Store Day, this April 19.
Joining Dan on the road for the Blackbird tour is stellar four-piece rock band Stonefield, whose self-titled album has been making a splash on radio over the past six months, as well Jan Skubiszewski from Way Of The Eagle. Tickets on sale from Thursday, April 10th.
