Dave Grohl Says Foo Fighters Have ‘Big Plans’ For Next Album

Dave Grohl has revealed that he and his fellow Foo Fighters have “big plans” for their follow-up to 2011’s Wasting Light. Speaking with MTV News, Grohl said that the Foos have material ready to record once he has wrapped up promo commitments for his Sound City doco.

“We have a plan, we know exactly what’s coming next, and I have the music for the next record and we’re going to start working on it once we finish doing all this stuff,” Grohl said, “and we have really awesome, big plans for the next album.”

Although Grohl says the Foos are pretty much set to get back in the studio once Sound City has been released and the Sound City Players have played their final show, the charismatic frontman is quick to explain there is no release date in mind for any new Foo.

“If I give you something now, it means I’ll actually have to make that deadline,” joked Grohl

In regards to performing with his fellow Foos alongside some of music’s most celebrated names as part of Sound City Players, Grohl says the experience is totally different than being onstage with his main band.

“It’s funny, we don’t really consider this the Foo Fighters … we’re Rick Springfield’s backing band, we’re John Fogerty’s backing band. We’re not up there playing Everlong every night, we’re just hoping our heroes get up on stage and play.”
