ORIGINAL STORY: Brisbane’s BIGSOUND conference has delivered its first round of speakers and it’s headed by Virginia Grohl who is the mother of Dave Grohl.
Last year, Grohl published a book ‘From Cradle to Stage’ interviewing the mothers of stars like Amy Winehouse and Adam Levine about what it’s like to raise a rockstar.
She’ll be delivering what is sure to be an incredible keynote about raising and nurturing musicians.
The other keynote speaker is Mardi Caught – a previous label executive at Warner Music Australia who has just launched her own marketing services company The Annex.
The rest of the first announcement is filled with overseas talent that includes industry figures from Domino Records, influential website Line Of Best Fit and C3 Management which looks after the likes of Phoenix and Hudson Mohawke.
This year, BIGSOUND will be moving away from a talking at you format with its forums, moving into “IRL conversations” whereby delegates will be encouraged to take place in the conversation.
The conference has announced its first three forums. The first, ‘The New Music Business’ will look at how best to introduce and enforce new ideas in the industry.
The second, will ask the question “What would the current music industry look like if it was invented by our First Nations people?”
Finally, the third will importantly look at ‘Changing Music Industry Behaviour’ and the psychology behind it.
