Devendra Banhart Announces Bluesfest Sideshows

Singer-songwriter and visual artist Devendra Banhart will be getting his sideshow on when he visits Australia next April for Bluesfest, with the avant-garde music maker confirming today that the will be playing headlining tour dates in both Sydney and Melbourne.

The Texas-born, Venezuela-raised Banhart has charmed Aussie audiences on several occasions, winning fans at the Big Day Out in 2010 and Splendour In The Grass in 2011. This time he’s celebrating the release of his eighth studio album, Mala, the latest in an illustrious career that’s been going strong since his 2002 debut, Oh Me Oh My.

Tickets for this not-to-be-missed event are available through a Frontier Touring presale between 12:00pm AEDT on Monday, 2nd December to 12:00pm AEDT on Tuesday, 3rd December, while general public sales will kick off from 9:00am AEDT on Wednesday, 4th December.

UPDATE 3/03/14: Special guests for both shows have been announced today, with experimental-electro duo and FBi Radio’s Unsigned Artist Of The Month for March Yon Yonson supporting at Sydney’s Factory Theatre, while psychedelic popsters Mouth Tooth will appear at Prince Bandroom in Melbourne.
