Drake Calls Out Grammys For The Weeknd Snub “It’s Like A Relative You Keep Expecting To Fix Up”

Drake has joined The Weeknd in calling out The Grammys and questioning the annual awards ceremony’s relevance in 2021. The Grammy Awards have yet again received criticism over their nominations.

The 2021 Grammy Award nominees were announced earlier this week.

While nominations for artists like Billie Eilish, Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, and Dua Lipa were welcomed, the industry and fans alike have questioned a few absences in the noms list.

The Weeknd initially called out his own snub. The artist who has taken home three Grammy Awards tweeted, “The Grammys remain corrupt. You owe me, my fans and the industry transparency…”

Of course, he was referring to his After Hours release and in particular, ‘Blinding Lights’ — his massive chart topper that’s already taken home a few awards.

Anyway, Drake, who has called out the Grammys in the past already, has jumped on board.

“I think we should stop allowing ourselves to be shocked every year by the disconnect between impactful music and these awards,” wrote Drake, taking to his Instagram story.

“And just accept that what once was the highest form of recognition may no longer matter to the artists that exist now and the ones that come after.”

“It’s like a relative you keep expecting to fix up but they just can’t change their ways,” continued Drake.

“The other day I said [The Weeknd] was a lock for either album or song of the year along with countless other reasonable assumptions and it just never goes that way.”
