Drake Tells World He’s Not Performing At The Grammys, Despite Ad With His Name During Super Bowl

Drake has had to correct the Grammys on social media after a commercial for the 2016 awards show aired during the Super Bowl listing him as one of the performers.

While other artists listed such as Taylor Swift, Rhianna, The Weeknd and Adele all seem to actually be performing at the show, Drizzy took to Twitter almost immediately following the ad, posting he “will not be performing at the Grammy awards.”

Still he was grateful they thought of him, adding “but hey it’s the thought that counts.”

It’s worth noting that other artists who have not yet been named as performers at the Grammys were also named in the ad, including Ice Cube and Nicki Minaj. According to Billboard, these artists (and presumably Drake) “were advertised as appearing (not necessarily performing) during the first hour of the show.”

What has been announced though is that Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker will be taking to the Grammys stage with Blurred Lines singer Robin Thicke and Mr. Worldwide himself, Pitbull, for some reason.

While there is no word yet on what led to the misunderstanding, whether this is all an elaborate lead up to a surprise performance or just an overzealous Drizzy fan in the Grammys camp, we can’t help but smile at Drake’s cheeky handling of the situation.

I mean who is going to bitch about some free Super Bowl air time amirite? Add this to his T-Mobile campaign and Drizzy may as well have been onstage with Beyonce and Coldplay at halftime.
