Dua Lipa has laid out the full run of dates for her Radical Optimism world tour for 2025, with a return to Australia confirmed for March. The multi-platinum UK pop starlet has announced two shows locally – one at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena on Thursday, March 20th and one at Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena on Wednesday, March 26th. However, given the proximity between the dates – as well as performing multiple shows at both venues on her previous visit – is it expected that more dates for each city are to be added to her itinerary in the coming weeks.
In addition to performing in Australia, the Radical Optimism tour will also see Lipa return to New Zealand. She is set to perform a show at Auckland’s Spark Arena on Wednesday, April 2nd – a week after her first Sydney date. More information can be found on the official Spark Arena website.
The tour is so named after Lipa’s third studio album Radical Optimism, which was released in May. The album featured extensive collaborations with Tame Impala‘s Kevin Parker, whom Lipa has described as being on “her dream board” of people to work with. Hyperpop producer Danny L Harle, longtime collaborator Ian Kirkpatrick and Miike Snow‘s Andrew Wyatt also worked on the record.
Ahead of its release, Lipa released three singles from Radical Optimism: ‘Houdini’ in November 2023, ‘Training Season’ in February 2024 and ‘Illusion’ in April 2024. All three songs reached the top ten on the UK singles chart, with ‘Houdini’ peaking at number two. Radical Optimism itself, meanwhile, topped the UK charts and reached the top five in nine other countries – Australia included.
Dua Lipa – ‘Houdini’
Lipa last toured Australia in November 2022, playing a run of arena shows with Tkay Maidza in support. The tour was, however, not without incident: At her first Sydney show, a Ticketek system crash meant that hundreds, if not thousands, of people were left stranded outside of the venue with no way to get in. Lipa ultimately made it on stage 30 minutes after her scheduled start time to accommodate for those that faced delays entering the venue.
A pre-sale for both Australian shows will go on sale on Thursday, September 19th at 2pm AEST. A general sale will then follow at 1pm AEST on Friday, September 20th. Both can be accessed via the official tour promoter, Live Nation Australia.
