Ellie Goulding, Kanye West & More Are Making An Album Using Crowd-Sourced Lyrics

An initiative headed by Mumford & Sons’ Ben Lovett will see some of the world’s top artists come together to create a 12-track complication album titled Metamorphoses.

Lovett is working in collaboration with an organisation called Global Citizen Project, an advocacy group that brings world issues to light and is aiming to eradicate extreme world poverty by 2030, and finally it seems the makeup of the artists writing the album is taking shape.

As Music Feeds reported in October last year, the entire lyrical content of Metamorphoses is to be crowd-sourced from all over the world. Submissions can be anything as long as they are original. “So far we’ve had stories, poems, a couple of one line reflections, even a wedding speech,” says Lovett in the project’s most recent promotional video.

It has now been revealed that the likes of Kanye West, The National and Ellie Goulding have all signed on to take part in the project, which is taking lyric submissions until March 31st. All users who submit lyrics will receive a free download of the album as soon as it becomes available.

“The artists involved in this project are some of the most genuine artists the world has to offer. Artists like Kanye West, and The National are doing something globally important that is touching people down to their DNA,” Lovett added in a press release.

“And these masterfully creative people are going to be interpreting incredible submissions from people across the globe. It has been a joy reading all of the submissions we received over the past six months. I’m truly excited to see what we will create together.”
