Prestigious US music festival and sister festival to Australia’s Big Day Out, Austin City Limits, has revealed its diverse set of headlining acts for the 13th instalment of the festival, giving some clues as to who we might expect to grace the stages at the yet-to-be-confirmed 2015 Big Day Out.
This year’s Austin event will take place across two massive weekends, from October 3rd to the 5th and, and then on October 10th to the 12th. Already announced headlining acts include, Eminem, Pearl Jam, Foster the People, Outkast and Major Lazer all of whom have or will have toured Australia too recently to be major contenders for the Big Day Out 2015.
Other notable headliners who might just make their way down south early next year include Beck and Lana Del Rey, who are both due for another festival appearance in Oz. Also featured on the bill is Lorde and Skrillex as well as Calvin Harris,The Replacements, Zedd and Spoon. Check out the full lineup below.
Last year, the festival had to cancel its final day due to dangerous weather conditions, stopping performances by Atoms for Peace, The National and Phoenix among a bunch of others. Thom Yorke, tweeted at the time: “Austin Texas tonight. A storm to end all storms! Lightning and thunder & rain like I have never seen.”
The October festival is produced by C3 Presents, who also co-produce Australia’s own Big Day Out. The 2012 edition of Austin City Limits featured such as acts The Red Hot Chili Peppers and Childish Gambino both of whom appeared on the lineup for the next year’s BDO. Given their connections, the new Austin City Limits lineup could be some serious clues for festival speculators, if the Big Day Out 2015 gets the go-ahead.
