Eminem‘s biological father has reportedly passed away of a heart attack. He was 67 years old.
As TMZ reports, Marshall Bruce Mathers Jr. died this week near Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Mathers Jr, who went by ‘Bruce’, married Eminem’s mother Debbie when he was 22 and she was 15. They had their son two years later and split up shortly afterwards.
Eminem, full name Marshall Mathers III, infrequently mentioned his father in his music, most notably in 2002’s ‘Cleanin’ Out My Closet’.
He rapped; “My fa***t father must’ve had his panties up in a bunch ‘Cause he split, I wonder if he even kissed me goodbye. No, I don’t, on second thought, I just f**kin’ wished he would die.”
As NME points out, Eminem claimed that he had attempted to write his father letters, but all came back with a ‘return to sender’ notice.
