Ex-A Perfect Circle Bassist Joins Pixies, Not Named Kim

Alt rock legends Pixies have announced their third bass player in less than six months, with former Zwan and A Perfect Circle member Paz Lenchantin stepping up to fill the space left by Kim Shattuck, who was replacing original bassist Kim Deal.

Lenchantin looks to be a temp replacement at the moment, joining the band on their next round of tour dates. Spin reports drummer David Lovering has been singing the praises of their new addition:

“We are really looking forward to playing with her on these dates. Working with different bass players is very new for the band, but we’re having a great time doing it.”

Lenchantin has some big shoes to fill but she’s certainly got an impressive resume, having also contributed to records by Queens of the Stone Age, Brightblack Morning Light, Melissa Auf der Mar, and Jenny Lewis.

The quartet have also revealed a new video for their track Another Toe In The Ocean, showing no signs of slowing down following Deal’s shock departure back in July.

The Muffs frontwoman Shattuck slotted in for only four months before leaving the band, saying, “Super disappointed to learn that my time with the Pixies ended today.”
