Fanning Dempsey National Park Announce Debut Album And National Tour

Fanning Dempsey National Park – the recently-announced supergroup of Powderfinger‘s Bernard Fanning and Something For Kate‘s Paul Dempsey – have formally announced details of their debut studio album, as well as a national tour in support of it. The album is titled The Deluge, and is set for release on Friday August 2nd. A full list of the duo’s tour dates can be found below.

Dempsey and Fanning recorded The Deluge in secret last year between San Francisco’s 2200 Studios and Fanning’s own Byron Bay studio with producer Craig Silvey and engineer Nick DiDia respectively. They were joined by keyboardist Adam McDougall, bassist Craig McFarland and drummer Michael Urbano for the San Francisco sessions.

“We agreed straight away there’s no point doing something together if it’s going to be what people think it’s going to be,” said Dempsey in a press statement. “It’s not the two of us with acoustic guitars singing campfire songs.” Fanning, for his part, agreed: “We didn’t want it to sound like a Fanning record or a Dempsey record,” he said. “We wanted it to sound like a band.”

Fanning Dempsey National Park – ‘Disconnect’

Fanning Dempsey National Park will make their live debut with a national tour this coming October, playing theatres across the country. The pair have promised both a mix of The Deluge and songs from across their respective back catalogues, both solo and with their respective bands.

“We’ve been telling you all how excited we are for you to hear The Deluge, but that doesn’t compare to the fever we have to announce our national tour,” said Dempsey. “Get on board, bring your raincoat, and prepare for a lot of fun.”
