Father John Misty Just Released An Actual New Track, Instead Of A Piss-Take

Following on from his recent appearances in the media for writing lyrics to the opening of House Of Cards, going to one of Taylor Swift’s Australian shows on acid, calling Nine Inch Nails’ Closer his “favourite love song” and live tweeting a terrible Tinder date he witnessed in LA, Father John Misty – aka Josh Tillman – has surprised fans by releasing what seems to be an actual new song.

Posted to his Soundcloud today, the song, Real Love Baby has all the moody crooning we’ve come to expect from the former Fleet Foxes drummer, although this time it’s all wrapped up in a happier package. With shades of Transformer era Lou Reed colouring the song, the sunny and reverb heavy pop ditty is potentially a teaser for the direction Tillman may be taking on his highly anticipated third album.

The follow up to last year’s I Love You Honey Bear, whatever direction Tillman ends up taking on his next release, he’s sure to have a captive audience. His constant social media shenanigans make sure of that.

But that’s enough of me gas-bagging, why don’t you have a listen to the track for yourself here.
