Launceston, start stretching now – because Foo Fighters have just announced a one-night-only Tasmanian stadium takeover, and it’s going to be loud. The 15-time GRAMMY-winning rock leviathans will hit UTAS Stadium on Saturday, 24 January, marking their first Tassie show since 2015 and their first-ever performance in Launnie.
In Australia alone, the Foos have shifted over 1.8 million records, racked up nine #1 albums (more than in any other country on Earth), and remain the undisputed rulers of stadium rock. Earlier this year, they shocked US fans with a run of guerrilla club shows introducing new drummer Ilan Rubin (Nine Inch Nails, Paramore), before dropping fresh singles: October’s ‘Asking For a Friend’ and July’s ‘Today’s Song’, their first new music in two years.

Their last Aussie run in late 2023 saw them selling out every major capital city in support of their acclaimed LP But Here We Are. And with this upcoming Tassie date, the band will notch their 14th Australian visit, joining the ranks of global artists who basically consider the country a second home. (Rightfully so ofc).
They also have a track record of turning “one-off shows” into cultural reset moments – see: the infamous 2022 Geelong concert that single-handedly jump-started live music after lockdowns.
Now, it’s Tassie’s turn.
Supporting the band at UTAS Stadium will be two homegrown heroes: Brisbane’s Full Flower Moon Band and local Launceston psych trio Spooky Eyes, making this an all-killer bill from start to finish.
