Foo Fighters, Eddie Vedder, Jennifer Lopez and more are set to play new global livestream concert ‘VAX Live’, in an effort to encourage confidence in vaccinations and help with access to vaccinations everywhere.
The event, titled ‘VAX Live: The Concert to Reunite The World’, is being put on by Australian organisation Global Citizen, and will see a string of other acts perform like J. Balvin, H.E.R. and Selena Gomez, who is also set to host the event.
“I’m honored to be hosting ‘VAX LIVE: The Concert to Reunite the World’,” Gomez said in a statement.
“This is a historic moment to encourage people around the world to take the COVID-19 vaccine when it becomes available to them, call on world leaders to share vaccine doses equitably, and to bring people together for a night of music in a way that hasn’t felt possible in the past year.”
In conjunction with the event, Global Citizen are announcing a new campaign #VAXBECAUSE along with an associated website. The website, according to the organisation, will offer a place where “Australians and global citizens will be able to ask questions about the vaccine, read fact-based information, hear people’s personal stories on getting the vaccine, and engage in candid conversations about COVID-19, so they can make the right decisions for themselves, their families, and their communities.”
Australians will be able to watch the concert as it airs live on YouTube on Sunday, 9th May at 10am AEST.
